Following the purchase operated by SIFA Technology of the 25 laptops for Vito Volterra Scientific High School in Sassoferrato and a contest promoted by the company on the day of the presentation of the donation, the Business English mini-course offered to the winners has recently concluded.
Elisa Benedetti, Laura Ceccarelli, Federica Garofoli, Sara Giontarelli, Agnese Latini and Matteo Schiavoni are the six students of the Vito Volterra Scientific High School in Sassoferrato who won the contest organized by SIFA Technology to inaugurate the new English lab of their school.
Infact, “My News English Lab” project promoted by Vito Volterra Scientific High School to strengthen the study and interactivity of the English language through modern equipment included the purchase of 25 new computers to be placed in the school’s English lab. Donation that SIFA enthusiastically decided to offer to the school, convinced that developing a kind of training which passes through cutting-edge tools can be a good incentive for students to apply themselves more proactively. Subsequently, last April, in collaboration with the high school, it was decided to organize a morning in which SIFA could convey to all the students of the school the reasons behind the donation and, at the same time, organizing a workshop to delve into some of the topics covered in their school programs and connected to the company’s Research & Development work.
Chemistry and Physics were the subjects most involved in the interaction, but also topics such as the creation of a business or corporate social responsibility were the subject of discussion and at the center of the contest launched at the end of the morning.
Contests won by six students from different classes and which allowed them to access six hours of Business English lessons held last September at SIFA Technology by the excellent native speaker teacher Rose Cristiano, specialized in Business Management Training. With great satisfaction, the company noted the assiduous and enthusiastic participation of the students in the three lessons and this made the whole initiative even more stimulating. The topics covered in the interactive and multimedia lessons ranged from learning specific terminology useful in the workplace to simulating various real situations typical of company dynamics – such as welcoming a customer or knowing how to answer a phone call with foreign customers – requiring the students to engage in dialogues and exercises.
“Besides our business – Annalaura Perini, HR Assistant at SIFA Technology, reminds us – it is essential for us to make a concrete contribution to the training of young people, creating projects aimed at providing skills required on the market but even before that, to offer the notions needed to decode the reality and to be adequately critical citizens. This can be done through a collaboration studied in detail between schools and companies, analyzing the contingent needs of the latter and matching them with the current training needs of students. As in this case, integrating the study of English with the use of the language in the workplace or how, through the workshop, transmit the importance of studying some subjects in order to have the basics to use in the company in a more advanced way. In this way, we can create, in a complementary way, a preparation which can be used immediately in everyday life, making students aware of the dynamics that surround them both in the school environment and in future work environments.
All this was made possible also thanks to teachers who were open to discussion and aware of the importance of creating innovative methods to ensure a complete education in line with current needs, for which we thank the teachers of the Vito Volterra Scientific High School in Sassoferrato, in particular the professors Marco Cristallini and Carla Franchini who immediately approved the collaboration that did not end after the purchase of the computers, but rather, became even more educational”.
